2015-12-13 Install a package on Anaconda¶
Some packages are specifically compiled for Anaconda distribution. That’s why it is better to install them with the command:
conda install numpy
When it does not not we can check if this package is available somewhere else:
anaconda search -t conda psycopg2
Which gives something like:
Name | Version | Package Types | Platforms
------------------------- | ------ | --------------- | ---------------
auto/psycopg2database | 0.2.0 | conda | linux-64
: http://jimmyg.org/work/code/psycopg2database/index.html
bencpeters/psycopg2 | 2.5.3 | conda | linux-64, osx-64
: Python-PostgreSQL Database Adapter
chuongdo/psycopg2 | 2.5.3 | conda | linux-64, osx-64
: Python-PostgreSQL Database Adapter
dan_blanchard/psycopg2 | 2.5.2 | conda | linux-64
: http://initd.org/psycopg/
davidbgonzalez/psycopg2 | 2.5.4 | conda | linux-64, osx-64
: None
deric/psycopg2 | 2.5.1 | conda | linux-64
: None
jonrowland/psycopg2 | 2.5.2 | conda | linux-64, win-64
: None
kabaka0/psycopg2 | 2.5.4 | conda | linux-64
: Python-PostgreSQL Database Adapter
kevincal/psycopg2 | 2.5.1 | conda | linux-64
trent/psycopg2 | 2.5.1 | conda | osx-64
: None
The installation will work if a version is available for the desired operating system. I was looking for Windows and it seems that it is not available. Otherwise, I could write:
conda -c <location> <modulename>
